Dieting To Lose Weight- Brussels Sprouts Edition
Ok, so here’s a funny one for me because since the time I was young I’ve always hated Brussels Sprouts. They smelled funny, tasted bitter and I had no interest. Until a friend had me try a delicious recipe- and I was hooked.
I grew up in Italy and watched my aunt and mother getting dressed to go to the market in their clicking heels they chose fresh seasonal ingredients for all the ingredients home to make the rules as a registered dietitian I know that true Italian food is the healthiest for dieting but i also know it’s how they lived and how they eat their food too how can a busy New Yorker live in Italian I will show you how and I’ll show out but all is style this is living an Italian your LED Carlo and I’m a registered dietician and we are learning how living an Italian can be very healthy and can be very flavorful so what we’re going to do with food today is we’re going to enhance the natural flavor Nutrition content and everything that we cook today we’re going to do some roasted Brussels sprouts now the first thing though is a big Italian tip is going to the market at least once a week to pick up all of the low carb seasonal vegetables and fruits that are available because those have the most nutrient content available so today I found some Russel sprouts which were super cheap for a huge bag that was double the bag before I used it for about four dollars so that was great and really lasts a long time you can cut these up and roast them ahead of time and keep them in the fridge for about three or four days and it’ll be great when you come home and you don’t feel like cooking you’ll already have an amazing vegetable already ready for you so what we’re going to do is we’re going to cut these babies up there from you Christopher spamming the same family as cauliflower and broccoli and their have great anti cancer-fighting properties of what’s a lot of Polyphemus and vitamins in in fleming city and so I’m just going to have them and I’m going to prepare them to go onto a sheet pan and just I don’t need a blanch em a lot of people like to blanch them first but I found that it can cook them around 375 degrees for about 20 minutes or so they get just as soft and a little bit of the bitterness in the Brussels sprout is ok you can also dress it in a way where the flavor is enhanced and definitely roasting any vegetable enhances the flavor of it so you it is definitely not only a healthy way of cooking I was also very flavorful way of cooking so on what I would do with my sheet pan which I have already done and they’re roasting for you go just going to pull them out is basically you use extra virgin olive oil high quality and just put that on the sheet pan very simply I just must see salt to it ok and from there you can just put that in the oven to bring out because what we’re going to do later is we’re going to dress them with parmigiano-reggiano cheese and a little bit of an essence of truffle oil so that’s why they sound amazing so I’m going to go ahead and pull these guys out I’ll show you what they look like they’ve been in there for about 20 minutes still kind of roasting up so that they are really beautiful and have those like brown edges and some of it is krista i love the crispiness and I’m basically just going to go ahead and dress these guys simply with a live and more of a drizzle of olive oil there we are and to that will attach my beautiful high-quality parmigiano-reggiano cheese watch and this is an amazing way to dress your vegetables because if you take care of your vegetables they will take care of you the more you love to eat them the more you will eat them so that’s really our tip for today and again a little bit more sea salt and we’re going to put a little drizzle also of my truffle oil over it and that right just as a final aromatic touch and now this aroma is walking through your apartment right now and smell is amazing and if you’re having a dinner party your guests are going to love you and I’m going to show you how gorgeous these are how beautiful that is member.
